Whether you’re trying to write an eBook, a report or just article content for your blog, it’s easy to get distracted and find other things to do. But remember, the quicker you can get through the writing, the quicker your product will be finished!
Here are five critical tips for “getting it done”:
1) Designate Specific Time Blocks – Set A Timer
Something that really helps me, whether I’m in the middle of writing an eBook or any other project needing focus, is to set a timer. Yes, I actually mean setting an alarm to go off in 15 minutes time, 30 minutes, an hour… whatever time span you need, and just write until for the entire period. It’s the best way to stay focused. You can use a cooking timer or a simple alarm if you want, or there’s also software available to help.
2) Don’t Be Afraid to Take Days Off
Look we all need days off from writing. In theory we can all plan to work on a task each and every day for a month, but in reality we’re going to find ourselves resenting or even hating the task. Like everything this differs from person to person. For example, if you’ve set a 7 day challenge to finish your eBook then you probably will want to write everyday. But if not, then taking… say the weekends off is a good idea.
3) Have Writer’s Block? Don’t Beat Yourself Up Over It!
This is probably going to be the hardest advice to follow out of everything I’ve said! But I understand what it’s like to beat yourself up when you’re not getting any words written. I did it for a few days and it got me nowhere.
But let’s admit it, writer’s block happens! Some days you might have to admit defeat and vow to make it up in the following days. Sometimes a day off (see above) is what you need to clear your mental block.
4) Consider and Make Notes About Your Goals
I recommend that you always think about your goals as you are writing. When I imagined accomplishing my challenge of writing 50,000 words in 30 days I imagined how happy and proud I would be when I finished. That helped to keep me going – that and the fact I had told a lot of people I was doing the challenge to keep me accountable!
Some days I let myself get a bit negative. Instead of thinking ‘I’m over half way through’ I’d start thinking ‘I’ve got almost half still left to write’. We’ll all have moments like that, but try to put a positive spin when you find your mind wandering into dark places!
5) Find Your Natural Rhythm
Shortly after I started writing my first eBook I realized I did a lot better when I wrote in the mornings. Why? Because by lunch I could forget about the annoying task of completing my challenge and just get on with whatever else needed doing. Find a time that works for you and stick to it.
Bonus Tip: Reward Yourself
Lastly, I recommend rewarding yourself when you meet certain goals. You could have a nice snack, a special lunch, go out somewhere, Tweet for a while… anything you enjoy, just something that makes the agony worthwhile!
Keyword research is one thing many online marketers avoid even though it is critical for success of most web-based businesses. Though there are many tools available for conducting various types of keyword research, there is one readily available, free tool uniquely suited for initial keyword discovery … the Google Suggest tool.
Accessing Google Suggest is simple since all you have to do is open the search engine interface in a web browser and start to type in your search term then Google Suggest lists possible terms based on common searches. We recently completed a two-part video series on YouTube describing different approaches for using the tool as well as a live demonstration of the process. You can access the videos by clicking on the two -links appearing at the end of this article …
We also assembled a give-away package (direct download link) to a desktop application and bonuses you can use when working with the Google Suggest tool described in the earlier video series.
Google Suggest Keyword Tool Package
The tool is a piece of software that will automatically complete the process of developing a list of long-tail keywords from your seed phrase for each letter in the alphabet (see previous videos).
In addition to the program, there are four bonuses contained with the zipped archive file including:
You can access a free gift to help you harvest keywords from the Google Suggest feature along with a few extra goodies you might find helpful. To download the zipped archive file, just click on the following link and save it to your computer.
Google Suggest Keyword Tool Package
Once the download finishes, unzip the file using a program like Winzip and then a file (Why Do Keyword Research) and folder will be created in your destination folder.
Next, double click the folder to locate the folder titled: Keyword Scraper and Bonus plus the free tools report file.
You can then access the Keyword Scraper Tool by opening that folder and double clicking the file with the “Google Keyword Suggest Scraper.exe”. There is also a short video (keyword scraper docs.mp4) describing how to use the program …

One of the areas I see the most overwhelm with is in article marketing. Isn’t it time to end your struggle when creating content?
People want to know how many articles to write, how often, and how to write them. Some people have a keyword list but no clue how to tackle it with articles.
It’s funny that we’re often taught the two ideas separately – either someone points out how they do keyword research, or they discuss the way they wrote a high converting article.
But merging the two together can be tricky (even for those who consider themselves good writers). There are so many things that go into a good article marketing formula, such as:
· Proper keyword usage from a search bot angle
· How to present an article slant that your target audience is most likely to read
· How to research the best article content to fill in your word count.
· The best way to let the information you’ve researched flow to the reader
Tiffany Dow is the former ghostwriter to the gurus (guys like John Reese, Rich Schefren, Ewen Chia and Travis Sago to name a few) and she just launched a really affordable (around $17) guide that teaches the entire idea gathering and content structuring for articles.

Since article marketing is such an integral part of our online business (for backlinks, for expertise branding, and for traffic), it’s really important that you know how to do more than just take a keyword and slap some sentences together.
This is especially vital in light of the new Google reforms taking place to weed out poor content and reward the good content. Take a look and see if this is something you need to work on.

I know it’s not some “get rich quick” strategy like most people are hawking, but it’s a good guide to improve your online business skills, which can ultimately result in more sales for you!
Once you’ve completed the preliminary groundwork by evaluating a mindset, researching your niche, conducting keyword research, deciding on and acquiring your domain name, and prepping the hosting account, you’re finally in a position to start building your website.
Of course that means you have to learn how to build your site or have a designer do it for you but even before site construction begins there is a decision to be made …
You have to decide whether you’re going to build a static or dynamic website.
Although some of us may know what that means, I am sure there are quite a few newcomers whose heads are now spinning wildly.
First of all don’t worry sweat it because we have all been in your shoes plus it’s likely you actually do know what that means even if you are not familiar with those specific terms.
What is a static website?
The reality … probably many, if not most of the websites you have visited in the past were created as static sites …
Static websites are created by constructing multiple webpages using programs like Dreamweaver or Komposer where the webmaster creates the page design using programming codes such as HTML and then adds the actual content like text, videos, images or graphics to the page. Each page on a website is created separately and then typically accessed via links on the homepage.
Building a static web site therefore involves either learning the technical aspects of site construction and some basic HTML coding or hiring a web designer to create the pages and maintain a website for you.
WordPress is a Content Management System?
Dynamic websites on the other hand are constructed via software programs generically referred to content management systems (CMS). One of the most well known CMS programs is WordPress.
Though many people think of blogs and blogging when they hear the name WordPress, over the years the WordPress systemhas actually developed into something more than a simple blogging system and into a very effective CMS.
If you want a better understanding of the difference between static and dynamic websites, I recommend you take a few moments and watch the following video:
Any time I am planning to develop a website that is more then a simple sales or squeeze page especially when I intend to create a site where I will be continually adding content I typically use WordPress (a dynamic website environment).
Using WordPress makes both adding content as well as establishing most of the basic on page SEO tasks fairly simple and straightforward compared with static websites.
A definite no-brainer to me …
